Where excess pressure is involved in a system - inadvertent opening of elements under stress can lead to parts flying around...

Citat:My experience tells me that once the cam with the lumpy idle is selected, the thinking mostly stops. Decisions then are based on lowest price, looks, ease of installation, coolness factor, the 'latest thing' syndrome, peer pressure, old wives tales, and bad advice.
Citat slut.
Hold kæft hvor er det sandt!

Fandt lige dette her på Bentleys hjemmeside.
The victories, which contributed greatly to Bentley's early charisma, were scored by the 3-litre (1927), the 4 1/2-litre (1928) and the 6 1/2-litre Speed Six (1929 and 1930).
A supercharged 4 1/2-litre, known as the "Blower Bentley", was developed by one of the most fearless of Bentley Boys, Sir Henry "Tim" Birkin. Although it never won at Le Mans, its 240bhp was exceptionally powerful for its day and Birkin took the Brooklands Outer Circuit Lap Record at nearly 138 mp
Så i 1928 lavede Bentley en med kompressor.
Mercedes skriver på deres hjemmeside :
In the early twenties, progress took the shape of supercharged engines in the design offices of Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft. Their development was promoted by Gottlieb Daimler's son Paul who had taken over as Chief Engineer after Wilhelm Maybach's withdrawal in 1907 and been appointed member of the board of management. The engineers had plenty of experience in mechanical supercharging at their disposal - superchargers had already been used to boost the power of aircraft and submarine engines.
John.
